A month ago my friend had won some free tickets to the Red.FM Summerfest at Hard Rock Penang, and she invited me to go together with her. So it was cool, had a great time chilling out and taking some snaps of the performers, who were very vocally inclined. The highlight of the evening of course was the appearence of Zainal Abidin, quite the legend in Malaysia’s music industry. Well since you can’t enjoy the vocals, let’s enjoy these moments frozen in time.
It was a pleasure shooting Phei, who is also a look alike of singer/actress Gigi Leong, looking forward to the next shoot with her. What do you think? Does she look like Gigi?
A little experiment on emotions and how to match the processing style to the emotion portrayed, I think some came off pretty well while a few were not reaching the mark I wanted, critiques are welcome.
This wedding took place early this year, in January in fact, my friend Siew Ting finally tied the knot and I was pleased to be able to shoot this auspicious occasion for her. It’s been a while, but I’m finally able to put it up on my blog. Here are some photos of the wedding ceremony.
Our lovely bride getting ready and patiently awaiting the arrival of her Prince Charming.
A scary statement right? But very true, if you could name me 10 of your friends who do not have a Facebook account today, I’m sure I would strike 1 million dollars the next day. Facebook is everywhere these days, it’s taken over your computer, you know who it is that farmville’s night and day or just stay glued to the computer screen going through Facebook. It has itself become a web of it’s own, stealing the attention of students, teenagers, workers, parents, and even some grandparents!! If that’s not bad enough, it’s invading our mobiles as well right now, with telcos coming out with packages that allow you to check your Facebook for free even!
Ok what could be worse than that right? Well, Facebook is now coming to a theatre near you! SOON! Yes there’s going to be a movie about the ever popular social network, and you guessed it the title of the movie is The Social Network. I thought it was a spoof or fan made clip at first, but it’s real, so brace yourself as you watch the trailer below. It actually looked quite interesting. Have a look at The Social Network:
I know there was another post about this not too long ago, just thought I’d post up the poster that Scott’s team had so graciously provided us with some details of the walk up. After all it’s a nice looking poster, would be a waste to put it to waste so here it is:
Registered walkers please show up on time, if you can’t make it please be courteous and remove yourself from the list, yes you need to do this yourself by logging in to your account on the Photo Walk website so that the people in the waiting list can also join in.
That’s it, thank you for signing up for my walk and hope we all have fun this Saturday!
It was an honour for me to receive my prize from the Governer of Penang, Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas yesterday at the Penang Town Hall. As you know I had recently won the Penang Peranakan Photography Contest, though I did not come out on top, but I did at least manage to secure second place. It’s not WPPI or some Masters Award but hey we’ve got to start somewhere right? I’m sure this achievement will pave the way for more achievements down my photography journey, now to work extra hard, shoot more and provide more!
In conjunction with the 72nd birthday anniversary of our dear governer, The ‘Governor of Penang’ and ‘Peranakan Penang’ exhibition will be held from 18th July until 31st July, the admission is free so do drop by to check out the photos of the other participants. Oh and do look out for a certain mistake in the ‘Governor of Penang’ exhibition.
Trusty old friend
Sudden as it came
Such a sudden end
Believe I could not
But accept I must
Miss thee I will
Demise of a Lens
It’s sad indeed, my trusty old kit lens bit the dust during the Peranakan Photography Session. It came suddenly in the middle of the shoot, pressed the shutter button and the dreaded error 99 came out. Tried to turn off the camera and turn it back on and the same thing happened, tried reinstalling the batteries and it happened again. I had no choice but to change lenses, but my 50mm was not wide enough and I tried changing back to my kit again, but still no luck.
Finally had to give up and settle with my 50mm. Goodbye my trusty companion, you have served me well over the past 4 years, I’ve learned many things from you as well, but now it’s time for you to rest, you will be replaced but still missed. The Demise of a Lens…
World renowned Photoshop Guru and Photographer Scott Kelby will be having his annual worldwide photowalk on 24th July which is next Saturday! This year I decided to join in on the walk but unfortunately our local walk was already full. Heeding the advise of the walk leader I myself have taken up the role of becoming a walk leader this time round.
I’m kind of nervous about this as this is the first time I will be leading a group of 50 photographers!! Just imagine a mob of 50 people lugging around huge DSLRs walking down the street, it’s rather intimidating. For those who managed to secure a spot, congratulations! For those who were unable to secure a spot, no worries, there’s always next year! Anyone who has no idea what I’m babbling about may check out more details on the official photowalk website
Finally let’s all pray for good weather this coming Saturday and be prepared for the walk but ultimately let’s all enjoy the walk together!
I just got to know that I won a prize in the Peranakan Photography Contest, the prize giving ceremony will be on this Sunday at Penang Town Hall! There will be a photo exhibition as well, if you’re free on that day do come by to have a look at the exhibition. Oh as for which prize I won? I don’t know, the organizer decided to keep me in suspense by saying it will be announced on that day itself!
