I met an Angel

It was a gloomy Saturday morning, it was raining much to my horror as I had a photoshoot that morning, but luckily the rain settled down at about 9am, there was still a glimmer of hope. Well actually thanks to the early morning rain, the sky was pretty cloudy and this gave a diffused light for pretty much the whole day. Perhaps it was because I met an Angel that day that provided me with such fine shooting weather. My angel of the day is none other than Elaine, who is also my make-up artist, and the theme of this shoot is you guessed it – Angel.

As I had recently acquired a pair of angel wings during my visit to KL for WPPM, I wanted to have a shoot with it, and my wish was granted faster than expected. Now let’s have a look at the fruits of our labour.

The one with the veil

After seeing so many veil shots I thought I would try it out myself, though I wish we had a longer veil that day, but it will have to do. It wasn’t easy to get the veil but we somehow managed to get something going on in these two shots. Many thanks to my model and make-up artist Elaine for her effort.

The WPPM Experience

Phew it was a busy weekend, two days packed with classes from WPPM and late nights with my partner discussing specifics for something exciting to come. It was a rush on Friday to reach KL after lunch from work, to top it off the weather wasn’t all sun and rainbows along the way, heck it was raining all along the journey up till KL! Met my friend at the hotel and off we went to Prince Hotel for the WPPM Canon Opening Night. Woohoo! Party time!

It was a cosy little gathering of photographers with some nice cocktail and light entertainment. I had the honor to meet Charlie Lim the light painter for the first time at the party, it was a nice and sweet party to kick off WPPM!

Scott Kelby’s World Wide Photowalk

worldwide_photowalk0038.jpg

It’s Scott Kelby’s annual World Wide Photowalk, and this year I had the honor of leading one in Penang. Turn out rate was pretty good, 30 odd out of the registered 50 showed up.  My route was from Weld Quay to Chew Jetty, then towards Kuan Yin Temple and back.

Inspire(d) by Louis Pang

Louis Pang was in Penang last weekend to conduct his Inspire+ series of workshops and seminar, and so I had the opportunity to be inspire(d) by him once again. I guess this is the cheapest seminar he has ever conducted, at RM150 and RM110 if you managed to sign up during his 3 hour special promotion. Louis, you should bring more affordable classes to Penang, RM900 is too much for the general crowd who aren’t earning professional fees for their services or who are not earning yet for their services. Well it was a short and sweet session with Louis touching on some lighting, posing and business. Hope to be able to meet up with you again soon. I did not take that many photos as I was listening attentively, but still here are some shots from the seminar. For anyone who doesn’t know who Louis Pang is, he’s a Malaysian wedding photographer hailing from Tawau who has won numerous awards, checkout Louis Pang Studios to see his work.

Summerfest @ Hard Rock Penang

A month ago my friend had won some free tickets to the Red.FM Summerfest at Hard Rock Penang, and she invited me to go together with her. So it was cool, had a great time chilling out and taking some snaps of the performers, who were very vocally inclined. The highlight of the evening of course was the appearence of Zainal Abidin, quite the legend in Malaysia’s music industry. Well since you can’t enjoy the vocals, let’s enjoy these moments frozen in time.

Phei @ Chew Jetty

It was a pleasure shooting Phei, who is also a look alike of singer/actress Gigi Leong, looking forward to the next shoot with her. What do you think? Does she look like Gigi?

Emotions

A little experiment on emotions and how to match the processing style to the emotion portrayed, I think some came off pretty well while a few were not reaching the mark I wanted, critiques are welcome. :)
