The lion dance is a significant symbol in Chinese culture and is a popular performance during festivities especially during the Chinese New Year Celebrations. The acrobatic lions must ascend the stilts to reach the highest peak, it is believed that the lions bring prosperity and luck and wards of evil spirits.
I had the pleasure of shooting for the 2nd Convocation of Wawasan Open University which was also the installation of the 2nd Chancellor after the late Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu. Taking after him is Tun Dr Lim Keng Yeik.
This is my first time shooting Deepavali celebration, don’t know what to expect or if there’s anything interesting to shoot. From what I heard, Thaipusam is the more happening celebration for Indians in Penang and Deepavali is more to prayers and shopping.
